Residents taking part in arts and craft

Volunteering and Work Experience

If you’ve any skills, hobbies, or interests that you’d like to share, or perhaps want to get involved in other ways, we’d love to hear from you! We very much work around our volunteer’s availability – so each volunteer and what they do, is individual. Typically, volunteers might be involved in things like:

  • Spending time with residents who, perhaps, have friends or family who can’t visit them regularly
  • Carrying out gardening activities
  • Taking our residents fishing or playing golf with them
  • Driving our minibuses and getting involved in outdoor activities
  • Art and craft sessions
  • Baking and cooking workshops
  • Carrying out woodwork
  • Getting involved in clubs (such as book club or knitting club)
  • Supporting events within our homes
  • Playing cards and board games

We also offer work experience to individuals and sometimes groups, whether they’re studying a particular course at school or college, are interested in starting a career in the care sector or would like to gain some more life skills in general. This also helps individuals to really understand what care and working in a care home is like, as well as giving them key skills to help in their employability.

If you’re interested in volunteering or work experience in one of our homes or even at Head Office, we’d love to hear from you!

Our process for volunteering/work experience is:

  • You complete an application form
  • We invite you in for a chat to get to know you
  • We carry out a free DBS check (if aged over 16) and references where applicable
  • We invite you in for an induction to get to know our home and residents
